Kojic acid dipalmitate, also known as 2-palmitoyl methyl-5-palmitoyl-pyrone, is a fat-soluble derivative of kojic acid. It is a chemical substance with a molecular formula of C38H66O6. It is a white powder or needle crystal.
Kojic acid dipalmitate (KAD) is considered superior to kojic acid in its whitening ability and is more stable than kojic acid in cosmetic formulations. Kojic acid dipalmitate inhibits tyrosinase activity, inhibits skin pigmentation, and has obvious whitening effect. As a fat-soluble skin whitening agent, it is more easily absorbed by the skin and less irritating to the skin.
